Two things we enjoy as a family – dinner out and baseball games. At Buffalo Wings and Rings, we’re able to combine both into an extra special evening out especially with their new Ballpark Favorites menu that brings a bit of the taste of the ballpark into the restaurant.
With a family friendly atmosphere, fresh food – not frozen – and a chef on staff in the kitchen to assure quality, you can see and taste the difference. I also know we’ll find a healthy option for my son when sides like fresh apple slices, broccoli and salad are offered on the kids’ menu. All favorites of his.
One of the fun perks of dinner out at Buffalo Wings and Rings for my son is that we let him watch TV during meal time. He’s starting to get into sports and wanting to understand more. In order to help him learn a few of the basics of baseball, I put together a “Baseball I Spy Game” for us to play.
My intent was for this to help entertain him during the wait from order to our food arriving, but our order came up so fast and he enjoyed playing the game so much, we kept playing all the way through our meal! Here’s how to create your own Baseball I Spy for your next dinner out:
- Free Printable
- White paper
1) Print the sheets onto 8.5 x 11 paper. Each sheet contains 2 cards.
2) Cut the sheets in half along the solid line to separate the cards.
3) Pack the cards and crayons (not pictured) to take to dinner at Buffalo Wings and Rings.
Once seated at the restaurant, distribute the game cards to each member of your family. The game is treated like Bingo where you are aiming to get 5 in a row to win.
Pick a baseball game off one of the many TVs to watch or request your favorite team if they are playing that day. My son asked our waitress to switch the TV closest to us to a game so we could play along.
Watch the game and see if you can spot the items named (i.e., pitcher, first base, home run). Call out the spot and color in the appropriate square. Continue until someone gets 5 in a row and says, “home run!”
Then order dessert and celebrate. Okay, so that’s not a game requirement, but everyone is a winner when it comes to Funnel Stixx, right? Especially parents because you just had a successful no fuss dinner and no kitchen to clean after.
What’s your favorite way to pass the time with kids while you wait on your order at a restaurant?
