Easy Cow Appreciation Day Costume

Last year the kids and I dressed up as cows for Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A. This has been an annual event for several years, but was our first time participating. The 2016 Cow Appreciation Day takes place next Tuesday, July 12th. Dress like a cow and get a free entree. Simple enough. Especially since this year the rules have changed and you don’t have to have a full costume to get the free entree. Dress up as much or as little as you like.

We went all out last year in quick costumes I put together in about an hour the same afternoon. Here’s how we made our hats and signs. Pair with white and/or black shirt and shorts – you have a quick, easy costume.

Cow Ears Hat

Start by cutting a 1-1/2″ wide strip the short length of a sheet of white poster board. Wrap it around head and mark just beyond where ends overlap. Cut to appropriate length. Then staple together to create a ring. Cut 2 cow ears from black felt. Staple into place on the poster board ring.

‘Eat Mor Chikin’ Sign

Cut a rectangle from the poster board about 9″ x 12″. Print a copy of our “Eat Mor Chikin” sign. Glue or tape (I used washi tape) to the poster board. Punch holes in the top corners and hang around your neck with black ribbon.
