Pumpkin Birthday Party

We celebrated our daughter’s 2nd birthday over the weekend with a pumpkin themed party at a local farm with friends.

Invitations

This is absolutely the easiest birthday party I’ve planned for my kids to date. I kept everything very, very simple starting with evite invitations in lieu of paper ones. Thankfully, there was a cute “Our Little Pumpkin” theme already. I just added her photo and the pertinent details.

Activities

We had a great time enjoying the farm with our friends – we went on a hayride and a ride on the cow train, the boys tried the luck at duck racing, the bigger kids had fun climbing hay bales to the big slide, the girls enjoyed the tire swings shaped like horses, and they all had a blast playing in the corn crib.

And, best of all, everyone got to pick their own pumpkin to take home.

Snacks

Since we were meeting late morning at a farm, I kept our food small and to a minimum. I packed brown sandwich bags (one for each child) with a small bottle of water, package of apple slices, pumpkin donut holes, and a napkin. I folded the tops of the bags over and sealed with a single piece of washi tape before stashing in a tote bag to make them easy to bring along. I also packed a container of hand wipes in my bag so they could easily clean their hands before grabbing a snack bag at the end of our fun.

After we returned home, I asked my daughter if she enjoyed her pumpkin birthday party. She gave me an enthusiastic “Yah!” (her current form of ‘yeah’) and a big grin. I’ll take that as a success.

Have you ever celebrated a birthday at a farm?
