Last year my daughter’s first grade class celebrated their 100th day of school with an optional dress up day. She wanted a 100 item shirt. Seemed simple enough. We came up with a plan (mermaid theme + shells) and quickly the 100 Mermazing Days of School shirt became a reality.
Supplies
- Plain T-shirt
- Silhouette or Cricut Machine
- Seashell Cut Files (I used Silhouette Design 128657)
- Heat Transfer Vinyl
- Iron or Heat Press
Instructions
Working with a solid t-shirt we already owned, I started making a plan. The light teal was the perfect backdrop for a mermaid shirt. I didn’t see anything I particularly loved online so I started my own basic design. I laid out the wording in Silhouette using 2 different fonts. Then planned various sizes and colors of seashells + starfish around.
Using my Silhouette Cameo, I cut out strips of seashells in 5 different colors of heat transfer vinyl – solid and glitter.
I carefully placed each shell one by one onto the shirt. Mixing styles, sizes, and colors to keep it interesting. My Cricut EasyPress Mini was the perfect size to carefully press each one into place.
I kept placing shell by shell until we had 100 individual seashells and starfish covering the front of the shirt.

100th Day of School
She was excited and ready to wear her 100 Mermazing Days shirt to school. It paired perfectly with a light teal hair bow and her Ariel mask.
