Atlantic Beach 2017: Kite Flying

Atlantic Beach 2017

September 4, 2017 Sarah Coggins

Earlier in the summer, Trent suggested we plan a week at the beach. I hadn’t even thought about it since we had just taken the kids to Walt Disney World. I assumed we’d skip another trip this year. He insisted though and, in the end, I’m so very grateful.

What we didn’t realize when making our plans was that this week away would be so much more than *just* a vacation. It was a much needed escape from reality. Exactly a week before we left, we said our final goodbyes to his parents. We are still working through our heartache and grief day by day, moment by moment.

But for a bit of time last week, we could relax. Feel the breeze. Listen to the ocean. Watch our children play and embrace their joy.

We also enjoyed 2 nights out thanks to my mom. She kindly agreed to spend the week with us and then insisted on us taking a break to enjoy a little one on one time. Moms do know best and she was right. We needed that.

Life is so short. Remember to enjoy and make the most of each day.

I'm so sorry to hear about his parents. I had no idea. Glad you all were able to escape and have some family time...and get in some grown up time, too.
