Any parent with school aged kids knows that collecting Box Tops for Education is a must. It’s such an easy convenient way to help raise money for our schools while buying brands we already know & trust.

And Hefty is making it even easier right now by offering a special “4 Box Tops” on select boxes of their trash bags just in time for back to school. They are the only trash bag brand that has partnered with Box Tops for Education. Hefty’s support has helped to raise more than $3 million for schools.

Cutting Box Tops

If you are like me, you don’t send in one or two Box Tops at a time. We have a spot in our kitchen desk drawer where we stash them until we’ve collected a small bag full. Thankfully, my son loves to cut them out (he’s way more careful about cutting on the lines than I am!) so I can just rip them off a package, stash in the drawer, and later hand them over to him with his scissors for a little “project” time.

Then we count them together. I love that he is secretly learning while we do this – a little hand & eye coordination while cutting, counting practice, and learning how to add up money amounts.

So after they are cut and counted, then what? My simple solution is to bag them in a small snack size zippered bag and stick on a label that notes his name, track (we’re year round school), Box Top count, and teacher’s name.

All this info is necessary to help the school quickly add up the Box Tops received and give his class credit since there are always ongoing competitions to see which class can contribute the most Box Tops.

Hefty 4 Box Tops: Free Printable Labels #Hefty4BoxTops

Create your own labels for your child(ren) in 5 easy steps:

  1. Download my free printable: Traditional Labels | Year Round Labels (includes “track” space)
  2. Print onto a 30 label sheet (i.e., Avery 8160 or similar).
  3. Complete information on label and stick to small snack size plastic bag.
  4. Clip your Box Tops – don’t forget Hefty has the only waste bags with Box Tops.
  5. Fill bag with Box Tops and turn into your school.

We’ve gotten our extended family involved in helping us collect them (aunts & uncles, grandparents, and even his great grandmother!) plus search out specially marked packages like the Hefty Waste Bags with the bonus “4 Box Tops” to help us collect as many as possible.

The bonus boxes are part of a limited back to school program so be sure to check your favorite store for them now to get a jump start on Box Tops collection for the new school year. I found a variety of Hefty Waste Bags available at Harris Teeter during my weekly grocery shopping trip. A few even had the bonus “4 Box Tops.”

That is such a neat idea! I never thought to include the count for the coordinators or the school, but it definitely saves them a lot of time, and I know how much effort they put into Box Tops! #client

I honestly don't remember if we were told to include the count or not now that I think of it, but it did seem like it would speed up the process for the volunteers who total them. And we keep hoping to help his class win the pizza party! :) We just sent in our first bag for the new year.

I am definitely going to be putting these to use this year since BOTH kids will be in school. Great idea!

Both kids?! When did K get old enough to start school too? Time really goes too fast. Glad you like the labels. :)
