day trip

April 27, 2015 Sarah Coggins

I briefly mentioned in my Project 52 Photos post last Thursday that we had taken a quick day trip to Charlotte the day before. Trent had an appointment and, as I had no other plans for the day, decided Elise & I should accompany him for the trip.

After putting Dylan on the bus, we loaded up, headed to Starbucks for coffees and started the 2-1/2 hour drive. Elise napped almost the entire ride both ways which was a win. We enjoyed relaxing, uninterrupted conversation. Any parent reading this can relate to what a treat that is!

Elise & I spent some time watching planes outside of Charlotte-Douglas airport while Trent was at his appointment. Even though she sees them fly over our house nearly daily as they come into RDU, this was a bit of a different angle and she was quite fascinated by the planes and people moving around the outside of one of the terminals.

Before leaving the area, we stopped at Concord Mills for lunch plus a bit of leg stretching. We had fun window shopping including looking for new shades for Elise (she’s been rocking Dylan’s newborn pair which are now too small for her) and picking out a cute Minnie Mouse bodysuit for her at the Disney Store.

It’s a rare day she gets solo attention from both her parents and this was our first big adventure just the 3 of us so it definitely deserved its own page for her album.

If you have more than one child, any tips for me on squeezing in one-on-one time with each of them as they get older?

I love the idea of scooting away after putting the kids on the bus. The hubby and I and the littlest grabbed lunch the other day before heading back for preschool pickup. It's nice to just get away for a bit!
