DIY Game Day Banner

We’re excited to cheer on the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 this Sunday. Since it is a school night and all, we’ll be staying in, but I’m still planning little homegating fun for the big game.

DIY Game Day Banner

To start, I made this fun “Go Panthers” banner using my Silhouette. I made a similar banner for a local mom to use at her son’s first birthday in December and Dylan had so much fun helping me, he had been wanting us to make another. This seemed like the perfect time.

(Yes, he’s wearing a coat but, no, our house isn’t that cold! He was ready early for the school bus. I let him help me string the pennant pieces before heading out to the bus stop.)

I created the banner pieces and letters in Silhouette Studio. The Panthers logo I found from The Scrapoholic as part of a free cut file. I was unable to use the file (or just don’t know well enough how to use Silhouette Studio yet), but I was able to use her jpg image via Photoshop. Then Studio to cut the logo.

I scaled the logo size down to fit my banner. This meant the details were a bit small but I managed to piece them into place on the black background. I must have done pretty well because even Trent was impressed. He asked me where I got it after seeing the completed design.

I hung the banner on our mantel using a bit of painter’s tape on the top. The tape is out of sight and it will peel off clean later. Then mixed in a couple of extra “football” items with our usual decor plus Valentine’s extras.

Next up … deciding what fun “party” foods I’m going to make for us on Sunday.

Are you decorating or planning a special meal for the big game on Sunday?

My boys and I made banners using posters from the Dollar Tree. We cut them in half and used markers and crayons to decorate them. Go Panthers!

Great idea! I bet they had fun making them too. Here's hoping for one more awesome victory on Sunday!

GO PANTHERS! I love this post - and will definitely pin for next year...when hopefully it's the Redskins. ;)

I'd make another for that too. We still happily cheer for the 'Skins when we can see the games.
