On Saturday afternoon, we made a stop at the newest Duck Donuts location in our area. Our first time ever visiting one. We keep hearing good things, but never manage to get to the Cary store and have never been to the home of Duck Donuts – Duck, NC.
Lucky for us, this store is much closer and easy enough for a mid-afternoon drop in. I can’t imagine a weekend morning though because it was still plenty busy and crowded enough I was very glad I chose to wear our daughter in her Líllébaby versus holding her (impossible for long periods now if she wants down since she’s so strong) or letting her walk (i.e., I would have been chasing her all over the store).
Supplies: A Mother’s Heart mini kit by Amber LaBau (papers); All Things New collaboration kit (striped paper); An Extra Day elements by Mommyish (confetti); Splish Splash kit by Rhonna Farrer (duck).
The downside to babywearing in a donut shop? Little stinker stole my donut sample. 😉 Admittedly, I grabbed one of the larger pieces so I could share with her. She had other ideas and snagged the entire thing. Anyone with a toddler can understand the death grip that occurred with that prize. She wasn’t letting go for anything. She was still nibbling on her piece of cinnamon & sugar donut a few minutes later when we returned to the car and I had to work hard to battle the remaining bit out of her hand. I let her finish eating it. I just wanted to wipe the excess sugar off her hands.
When we arrived home with our to go box of donuts, I confess, I put our daughter down for her nap and then enjoyed an entire donut to myself.
Do you have a great local donut shop? Have you ever “snuck” a donut when the kids weren’t around?
