Earth Fare Cary – Morrisville review

March 25, 2015 Sarah Coggins

Earth Fare opened it’s 36th store this morning in Morrisville at Park West Village shopping center. Yesterday, Elise and I took a behind the scenes tour to get a look at the new store layout. Currently the only other store in the Triangle area is in Brier Creek and features an older design.

The new store is bright and well laid out. For being smaller in square footage, it felt large and spacious inside.

If you are unfamiliar with Earth Fare, the best description is that it is a speciality grocery store. Many products in the store you will recognize and possibly purchase now at other retailers. Some products and brands may be completely new to you. Simply, Earth Fare only allows foods & products that align with its food philosophy meaning that items in the store contain no high-fructose corn syrup; no artificial fats or artificial trans fats; no artificial colors; no artificial flavors; no artificial preservatives; no artificial sweeteners; no antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones in our fresh meat or dairy; and no bleached or bromated flour.

Something I particularly liked was the large selection of bulk items where you can select the amount you want to buy. This includes nuts, candies and even herbs. Also freshly ground peanut or almond butter. Not sure you’ll like the bulk item? You can taste test. Yes, you can take a free sample. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen the photo I shared yesterday of the fresh organic peanut butter. It was amazing. I’m definitely purchasing some during my next visit.

Another plus for those looking to save the environment a little – you can use the provided plastic bags for containers for bulk items, but you can also bring your own containers. Just have your container weighed prior to filling so the container weight can be subtracted from your purchase.

The store also features a small restaurant offering sandwiches, wraps, pizza and smoothies. Kids eat daily for $3 with their choice of entree plus grapes & carrots.

Before you shop, be sure to sign up for the Tomato Bank – Earth Fare’s rewards program. No card required. Just use your phone number each time you shop as your identifier. Earn 100 points for signing up. Then continue to earn points by bringing your own bag, purchasing select labeled items, and for each visit. Cash out the points whenever you like. Every 100 points equals $1 off.

Along with the tour, the folks at Earth Fare kindly offered a $50 gift card to one of my readers. The gift card is good at any Earth Fare location, but, if you are in the Triangle area, I highly encourage you to visit the new Cary – Morrisville store at 951 Morrisville Parkway. Love earth fare!

Have you tried their baked goods and juices yet? I stop several mornings a week for a scone and a kale lemonade. I'm hooked.

I've heard great things about the kale lemonade but didn't realize they had scones. Adding to my list when I go back. Thanks for the suggestions and good luck!

I am looking forward to trying to hot bar. Wonder if it is comparable to Whole Foods!

From my experience, Earth Fare is far easier to navigate and find items (I find WF stores too crowded to maneuver easily through). Definitely give it a try sometime. Good luck and thanks for entering!

I meant to stop by the store yesterday but ran out of time! I'm excited to check it out, and a bulk option other than WF.

It looks like they had a great turn out yesterday! I went back today to shop figuring it would be calmer and it was. So many great deals during opening week too. Thanks for entering and good luck!

I am SO excited that they are finally open! The store is right by my office & it will be so nice to be able to run in & grab dinner ingredients & have another great lunch spot nearby!

It is a beautiful new store. And, yes, lunch & dinner options galore. Also a few breakfast selections as well. I spotted some yummy scones in the bakery today. Thanks for entering and good luck!

So Earth Fare started wayyyyy over here in Asheville. I remember my mom shopping there when I was a kid. I thought she was a bit crazy (I had no idea the importance, obviously, of all the stuff that goes into our food!) We shop there now because it's close to our house and if you sign up for their emails you can find so many great deals. I buy most of our meat from them in bulk when it's on sale!
    • Sarah Coggins March 27, 2015 at 11:31 am
Yes! I was excited to learn it was a North Carolina company. And the specials this week at the new store are amazing - I made sure to grab a couple of the small chickens and some grass fed ground beef. Plus plenty of produce since that's what my son eats the most of. I'm excited to have 2 close by to shop at now. Thanks for entering & good luck!

I'm from Texas and sadly I don't have an Earth Fare close to me :/ The good news is that I'll be going to Tallahassee during the summer so we can shop at their store there.

Hopefully they will expand your way in the future. Definitely would be useful for your trip - good luck!

There is no store close to me but there is one fairly close to my aunt/uncle in NC who we usually visit every couple months and who I'd gift this gift card to the next time we see them. :)
    • Sarah Coggins March 28, 2015 at 8:47 pm
What a thoughtful gift! Thanks for entering and good luck.
