Everyday Adventure

April 28, 2017 Sarah Coggins

Sometimes the simplest, everyday adventure is the best. My son had a make-up school day on a Saturday morning at the start of the month. (Yes, on a Saturday. He’s in year round school and those are the only times make-up days can be squeezed in). That afternoon, the weather was perfect so we took full advantage.

The 3 of us went to our local frozen custard store for a quick treat. Then to a local park to play. After the kids tired of the playground, we followed the greenway down toward the lake for a look at the ducks and turtles. On the way, I captured this photo:

It’s one of my favorites because it’s a good representation of right now. At 2-1/2, she looks up to her big brother and wants to keep up in every respect – from following after, attempting to do whatever he does, and, of course, grabbing a stick when we go on walks.

Life moves quickly and sometimes we miss the little moments. Take time this weekend to pause, enjoy, and be present.

Sounds like a great day! I can't imagine school on Saturday, but we do karate most Saturdays so it's kind of similar! What happens if you have a trip planned? Is it unexcused?

We already had plans (honestly, his sister's birthday party) when we had an unexpected Saturday make-up day last fall due to Hurricane Matthew. We let him skip that day and, as far as I know, it was excused. Between that and the 3 days from snow/ice, this year was a busy one for Saturday school! It's only until noon though so not so bad.

These are, by far, my favorite posts of yours. I love seeing those special moments that seem like they are every day but are really the most precious, You are SUCH a great mom.

Thanks! I'm grateful to have these moments with them. They are growing up much too fast.
