Our son’s fall track out began last Wednesday and Trent took the end of the week off as well so the four of us could enjoy a bit of family “staycation” time. We’re blessed that there really are so many family friendly options in the Raleigh-Durham area that our only “problem” was slimming down which things we wanted to do.
A trip downtown to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences was a given. It’s one of our favorite places and the kids never seem to tire of it.
We made sure to check out the new exhibit – Extreme Mammals. And take funny photos. 🙂
After nearly a solid week of clouds and rain, to finally have the sun out and warm temps (70!) was a huge blessing. We took advantage of it to get outside and explore the new Hideaway Woods at the Museum of Life + Science in Durham.
We also stopped by North Raleigh’s new donut shop (Rise Biscuits & Donuts) for free donuts on Friday. Even our daughter took a couple small bites which is huge! She’s been much tougher on starting solids than her brother. Apparently, donuts pass the test.
Simple things, but fun and priceless time spent together as a family.
Do you have some favorite family “staycation” spots in your area?
