Find Waldo Local 2016: Stone's Education & Toys

Find Waldo Local 2016

August 11, 2016 Sarah Coggins

Each July, Quail Ridge Books hosts Find Waldo Local. About 20 local stores participate by hiding the familiar Waldo from Where’s Waldo? fame in their stores and, in some cases, contributing a prize seekers have an opportunity to win at the end of the event. We’ve been participating for 4 years now. This year we found Waldo at 11 different stores – one more than the 10 needed to qualify to enter to win one of the prizes.

Our first Waldo find for 2016 at Stone’s Education & Toys

My son and I headed over to Quail Ridge last Saturday to attend the Waldo Shops Local party. There was a big cake with Waldo’s likeness and even Waldo himself made an appearance. We also were one of the lucky prize winners taking home a gift certificate to treat ice cream. Looks like our next adventure will be a trip downtown for a sweet treat!

Have you ever participated in Find Waldo Local?

Linking up with Mommy & Me Monday at Really, Are You Serious? Technically D & I aren’t in the same photo, but I did get photos of us both on the same day and into a single scrapbook layout so that sort of counts? Maybe? 🙂

Thanks! I've had that map paper in an embellishment kit for a while just waiting for the right opportunity. :)

What a super fun activity. And congrats for winning a prize. Do they give you hints or clues where to find Waldo? Or do you just search the whole store?

Typically we just search him out. I encourage D to start looking on his own and then assist if needed. A couple of times we asked staff in the store if Waldo was hiding. Then got a little advice on which direction to head. Four years into this though and D is pretty good at spotting them on his own. Sometimes faster than me! :)
