Fridays On The Front Porch

Fridays on the Front Porch: the layout

July 13, 2015 Sarah Coggins

Last month we joined friends for our first time attending Fridays on the Front Porch at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill. It was a last hurrah of sorts before we said good-bye to Allison & family as they prepared for their move to the coast.

Fridays On The Front Porch

Supplies: Dream a Little Dream by Meredith Cardall; A Lovely Day: Two by Sugerplum Paperie

It was one of those weird weather summer evenings in the south where the humidity was high, clouds were looming and brimming with the tease of rain. Thankfully only a few sprinkles fell and we were able to enjoy the music and each other’s company. The boys ran around playfully, Elise got plenty of snuggles, and the adults had a few moments to catch up.

Having met when we were pregnant with our oldest boys, we’ve literally known, watched and loved each other’s kids as they were are own over the last 6 years. It was bittersweet waving good bye to Allison, her husband & boys as the evening ended. Technology almost makes it seem like they aren’t quite so far away now though and, honestly, I’m quite excited for them as they chase their dream and start this new adventure. (Plus it means I have a guest room close to the beach. 😉 )

If you are in the Triangle area and interested in checking out Fridays on the Front Porch, it is occurring every Friday through October 23rd (5-8pm) for the 2015 season.

It's definitely bittersweet. Sad she's not in the area, but excited for her on this adventure and that she & her husband followed their dream. So far we've had so much contact via social media & email that I almost forget she has moved!

It's amazing how tech can create pen pals for folks we've never met, as well as including those that are further away than we'd like!

Definitely one of the biggest positives of technology now. Love it.

Bummer that your friends are leaving. We haven't had to endure that yet. But the plus is a guest room at a beach? Yeah, that's pretty awesome!

Tough when friends move, but it almost doesn't feel so far away thanks to the internet. And, yes, the guest room is a plus. I need to email her and set up a visit!
