Go Ape Tree Top Birthday Party

Going Ape for Eight

August 4, 2017 Sarah Coggins

My son turned eight a few weeks ago. Eight! I feel like these birthdays sneak up on me faster each year. When it was time to plan for his celebration, we very quickly decided to book a morning adventure at Go Ape. He still talks about the fun we had there last year and I knew his friends would enjoy it as well.

After his sister’s super simple pumpkin patch party last year, I’m sold on making birthday celebrations as easy as possible. This one fit the bill perfectly. We met up with friends early on a Saturday morning. Signed our waivers. Put on harnesses. Then headed up into the trees to play.

Since our daughter is still too young to participate, Trent hung out down below with her. They were our own little cheering squad and photographers.

I missed getting a photo with either of my kids that day (how did that happen?), but I did get my photo taken by one of my kids (and with one of my son’s buddies). I had so much fun on our last two Go Ape experiences, there was no way I was missing out on this one.

After an hour of climbing, working through obstacles, and zip lining over & over again, we were all pretty tired. Most importantly though, we had one happy birthday boy.

All 8 of us headed across the parking lot to a shaded picnic area for a simple lunch – ham & cheese sliders, chips, watermelon, cantaloupe, and cupcakes. I’d share photos, but, in the moment, I completely forgot to take any! We were busy having laughs, catching up, and enjoying a well earned lunch.

It was the perfect, simple birthday celebration and we are so grateful to our friends for joining us for a morning playing in the trees.
