Ice Cream Sundaes and Photo Booth Fun

My son wrapped up second grade last week. One of the highlights – the end of year class party on Wednesday. As one of the room moms, I had the joy of helping to plan and host. We celebrated with ice cream sundaes and photo booth silliness.

Supplies: Everyday Life Templates Set 6 by Sabrina’s Creations; 24 Seven papers by Just Jaimee; Project Mouse: A Day in the Park word bits and Project Mouse: Pins by Britt-ish Designs and Sahlin Studio; Memory Keeper elements by Paislee Press; Happy and Of Wishes, Hopes & Dreams Part 2 collaboration kits.

I was a little concerned beforehand that having an ice cream sundae bar might result in a rather large mess. Luckily, I was wrong. The kids (7 and 8 years old) were amazing.

We covered 3 tables in blue plastic tablecloths and set out cups of the dry toppings. The kids each found a seat at one of these tables. Then they were handed a cup with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream they could top to their heart’s content.

A few parents worked their way through the group with the messier options (chocolate syrup, caramel sauce, whipped cream, cherries).

Once the kids were finished, they took turns individually and in groups at the photo booth. It was super simple. I set up my DSLR and tripod. We hung a tropical themed backdrop. Then let the kids loose with various costume attire and photo booth props. They had so much fun. I came home with over 100 photos!

I failed to get my son to pose with me in one – he wanted to take my photo instead. Thanks to a little Photoshop, I combined shots of each of us into one.

The party wrapped up with the classic signing of yearbooks. And part of the fun of them still being young? They had all the parents sign the books too. It’s been a long time since I’ve been asked to sign a yearbook!

Have you had an ice cream sundae party?

What a fun way to celebrate the end of the year! I know everybody enjoyed it. And the backdrop idea was fabulous.
