My daughter and her neighborhood bestie spotted some fun sensory kits at a recent event we attended. The mermaid playdough kit was their favorite of those featured. I wasn’t prepared to make a purchase that particular day, but I did file away the idea for her friend’s birthday. It seemed like the perfect gift. Best of all, my daughter and I had fun making this together and we had enough extra supplies to make one for her to keep. Win win win.

DIY Mermaid Playdough Kit

Supplies

  • Plastic box
  • Small resealable container
  • Homemade playdough
  • Cookie cutter
  • Mermaid toys
  • Aquarium plants
  • Seashells

Mermaid Playdough Kid Instructions

Step 1 Make your own playdough following our recipe found here. Color with food coloring or with markers. After it’s complete, place into small resealable container. Tip: make sure the container will fit into your larger kit box. We used these “slime” containers leftover from a past Cub Scout project.

Step 2 Place cookie cutter and seashells into the box next to the playdough. (Nosey cat optional. 🙂 )
