New Year’s Eve 2015

January 4, 2016 Sarah Coggins

For several years now, friends of ours have thrown a “British Jubilee New Year’s Eve” family party which allows us to celebrate at midnight GMT (7pm locally). The kids are all wired and, for the most part, still young enough they think they are really staying up until midnight. We adults get a chance to hang out and enjoy. Yet we all get home and to bed at a reasonable hour because, as any parent knows, no matter how late you keep up the kids, they won’t sleep in the next day.

As in years past, we aimed to get a family photo during the celebration. Here is the “best of” from about 12 takes. A bit along the lines of our anniversary photo, I love it because it sums up the moment pretty well.

Both kids excited and anxious to get back to the “action.” One to practice her new skill of walking (also snapping up any sippy cup or water bottle in sight and grabbing a swig). The other eating a candy cane and ready to race back to his friends & bat around the balloons now loose from the balloon drop.

Do you & your family have a special New Year’s Eve tradition or do anything special that night?

Love it! We had such a full day, I think the kids were in bed before 7! We blew horns, watching King Julian's count down and went to bed..it was perfect!
