The annual Holiday Express event at Pullen Park is one of our favorite family holiday traditions. This year, unfortunately, Trent was held up at work so I took the kids alone as we didn’t want to miss out entirely.
Supplies: Oh What Fun kit by Sahlin Studio; Here We Come a Caroling mini kit by Dawn by Design.
Our first stop was the train. Between rush hour traffic and trying to wait on Trent, we missed our 5:15 train slot so we jumped into the standby line to wait. One of the staff members kindly took the photo above for us while we waited. It didn’t take too long though as there was space on the very next train. The 3 of us fit easily into one row especially with E snuggled up to me in her carrier. I was so glad I thought to bring out Seahorse carrier as it kept her safe & warm during the chilly ride!
We loved looking at all the fun light displays as the train circled the park. Then headed to one of my son’s favorite stations – ornament making! Each of the kids selected an ornament to work on. They both worked hard on their creations. Obviously, I gave E a bit of help, but she did great stringing her beads and snowflakes on the pipe cleaner to create a tree. With the shades of blue and white, it reminds me a bit of Frozen which might be part of the reason she liked this one so much – she’s a tad obsessed with “Let It Go” at the moment.
And this was just the start of the night! We completed the scavenger hunt, made reindeer food, played a couple of games, and D even got to go “sledding” again down the slides with manmade snow. It really was a lot of fun! We’re already looking forward to this tradition again next year.
