We love to explore the various parks around our area and, for whatever reason, have never made it to Yates Mill Pond until last weekend. We saw a mention in the newspaper about a mill tour on Sunday afternoon and headed that direction. We arrived a few minutes after the tour began and discovered it was full, but also that there was only one tour and it lasted an hour (the wording in the paper made it seem like there were multiple within that hour period).
Being late worked to our advantage because I don’t think our two kids would have handled an hour long tour; we learned when to expect the shorter tours which include staff in period costumes; and we had the opportunity to enjoy a gorgeous mild weather afternoon as we strolled around the pond on one of the trails.
I loved this photo of Trent & Dylan during our visit. The excitement Dylan had over something so simple as to look through those binoculars across the pond and see what he could spot. Plus the fact that it shows what a hands on father Trent is. He really does join in on whatever activity from playing toss in our yard to splashing in the pool, etc.
Linking up with Photo Friday.
