Thursday was the first day of track out for Dylan. His last of the school year and last big break until August. We loaded up and drove 2 hours to the coast to spend the day in Wilmington. Lunch with friends that moved from here a year ago (so grateful for the opportunity to catch up!). Followed by a tour of the USS North Carolina battleship.
Trent & I had both visited as kids, but this was a first for our children. And pretty much all I remembered was how hot it was! That part still rang true. It was worth it though. We lucked out and only a few other people were visiting so we were able to move at our own speed (okay, so the speed of our 6 year old which was pretty fast!). We’ll have to plan another visit when we can slow down and really take it all in. Still, a fun adventure.
Afterward, Dylan & I located 3 geocache on the property. We took a look at the former spot of the basketball court used in the tv show One Tree Hill. Then headed back into downtown briefly for ice cream and a glimpse of the tall ship El Galeon before making the drive home.
It was long exhausting day, but so fun and worth it.
Have you visited the USS North Carolina or another battleship?
Linking up with Photo Friday.
