Project 52 Photos 2016: Week 26 - Aloft RDU

Project 52 Photos: Week 26 – Triangle Tweetup at Aloft RDU

July 1, 2016 Sarah Coggins

Wednesday night I headed out solo to attend the latest Triangle Tweetup at the brand new Aloft RDU. I’ve seen the building for months from 540, but this was my first time seeing it up close. Even with my background in architecture, it slipped my mind to get an exterior shot until I was leaving which ended up being a good thing. We had a huge storm pass through during the event which led to a fun purple tinted sky afterward.

Did you catch the “local” vibe in that headboard? Here’s a closer shot. If you’re familiar with the Triangle, you can spot a lot of local architecture in there including the NCSU belltower (near the middle)RDU International Airport (bottom right), downtown Raleigh skyline, Duke chapel (far left), and even the “old well” from that other blue school. (Hey, I’m a state alum – at least I mentioned it’s there. 😉 )

Of course, what fun is a Tweetup without a few people pictures?
