Project 52 Photos 2016: Shark

Project 52 Photos: Week 41 – Shark

October 14, 2016 Sarah Coggins

On Monday we had an unexpected day off from school due to Hurricane Matthew. I took advantage of the situation to take the kids to Greensboro to visit my dad and celebrate his birthday. We spent the morning at the Greensboro Science Center. With grandparents to help supervise the kids, I had an opportunity to play too – with my new lens. One of my favorite shots of the day was this one of a shark swimming in the Shark Reef Exhibit:

I feel like I’ve struggled in the past at aquariums to get the settings right. Finally, with a lens with a greater aperture range I pulled it off.

Have you overcome an obstacle (photography or otherwise) lately?

My 35mm f/1.8 Nikon lens pretty much lives on my one camera; the wider aperture really makes a huge difference! Glare is so hard to battle when shooting through glass, but that shark photo looks great!

How awesome that you got the right lens that you wanted. This is a great shot. I'm sure everybody enjoyed the trip.
