We started our trick or treating just after 6 on Halloween night. It was getting dark and I only managed a couple of shots using my iPhone. My favorite was this one when the kids stopped to visit with E’s neighborhood bestie who was dressed as Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street.
Both recently two, this is the first year the girls had an idea of what was going on. My more experienced ghostbuster led his little ghost sister from house to house all evening. After the first stop, she figured out that “trick or treat” equaled getting candy. In her case, lots and lots of candy. There’s not much cuter than a 2 year old saying “tick or teat”. To the point she took 4 handfuls at one house – only stopping when I picked her up! She did say “tan cue” (thank you) after most (which sometimes equalled extra candy because the adults thought it was so cute 😉 ).
D ran slightly ahead a couple of times and was always quick to ask for extras for his sister. At one particular house we were just far enough behind him that the owners weren’t sure if he’d just snuck off with a bonus candy bar until they saw him run over and drop it in her bucket. They called him back to offer him another treat for being honest and looking out for his little sister. Needless to say even though our evening was cut short due to being a school night, both of the kids came home with plenty in their buckets.
Did you go trick or treating on Halloween night? If not, did you have any trick or treaters?
