Project 52 Photos 2016: Christmas Elf

Project 52 Photos: Week 48 – Christmas Elf Returns

December 3, 2016 Sarah Coggins

Our elf returned on Thursday! We found Christopher Pop-in-Kins hanging out at the top of our Christmas tree waving hello.

Project 52 Photos 2016: Christmas Elf Returns

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen we’re going with an artificial tree this year. It was something we purchased on sale last year with the intention of putting it in the playroom each year. A tree for the kids to enjoy and decorate. I love having a real tree in the family room. However, our schedule this month is a bit chaotic and trying to find time to go get one as a family? It was just adding unnecessary stress. Sometimes it’s better to take Elsa’s advice and just “let it go.” 😉

I also made a change from our traditional star topper. My son commented about an angel belonging at the top and I still had this paper one he created in school once. It’s perfect and goes well with our now child decorated tree that gets redecorated daily by a certain toddler.

Does your family have an elf at Christmas time? If you need inspiration, be sure to check out our 50 Elf Ideas post which includes a printable list!

You like the artificial? We almost did it this year as we have some travel but they were pricey!

I have mixed feelings. It's not as full and then, of course, nothing really compares to the smell of a real tree. We scored a really good deal on this one last year so I can't complain on the price (not to mention not having to spend money on a tree this year). Plus I didn't have the hassle of the lights as it's pre-lit and can switch between white (my preference), colored (everyone else's preference), or flashing (the kids, of course, love that feature - it's like a built in dance party LOL). There are pros and cons, but I think we'll go back to a real tree next year and move this one to the playroom as we intended.
