Living more in the city than my own childhood, I appreciate opportunities for my children to have simple, natural play outdoors. Earlier in the week we spent an afternoon playing at the Museum of Life + Science and my son stacked wood slices to create a tower.
They had been scattered all over the toddler play area until he gathered them up and slowly began forming his structure. Piece by piece. Making sure everything balanced.
I keep meaning to get some for our backyard. Such a simple, fun “toy” to enjoy and spark the imagination. For now, we’ll have to settle for playing with them at L+S and at Prairie Ridge Ecostation.
Do you have a favorite natural outdoor activity for kids?
Linking up with Photo Friday.
