My son’s elementary school celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week in March. We went simple keeping with this year’s theme: STARS.

(healthy) Snack

We referenced his teacher’s favorites list and decided a box of protein bars would be a good fit. I stamped “thank you” onto a plain white tag that my son addressed to his teacher. Then we tied it on with a gold ribbon.

Thank You Card

I handed over a plain, white card and my son completed this one on his own from the words to the design. And, being 7, wasn’t into me taking a photo which I fully respected. This was his personal message to thank his teacher and, I’m betting, the greatest gift we sent in during the week.

An Apple a Day (favorite fruit)

His teacher’s favorite fruits? Cantaloupe and pineapple. I didn’t see either of these traveling well on the bus. Also, if every student brought one of these – that’s a lot of fruit! So, we went more traditional and gifted him an apple. For safe transportation (and cute wrapping effect), I enclosed it in a small plastic treat bag we had leftover from my daughter’s birthday party last fall. Then added a tag that matched Monday’s healthy snack gift.

Really? Can a Teacher have enough supplies?

As lead room parent, I met with the teacher the week before to discuss his supply needs so I could create a signup list for the parents. I considered referencing the supply list from the start of the year, but was glad I asked as there were a few items the classroom was well stocked on (Clorox wipes for example) and other items that were greatly needed – including sharpened No 2 pencils, tissues, and hand sanitizer.

Surprise

We referenced his teacher’s favorite list and grabbed one of each of his favorite candies. We used a couple small squares of foam tape to secure the packaged together, then finished off with the same gold ribbon & white tag we had used throughout the week.

Teacher Appreciation Week: Sweets

My daughter’s preschool celebrates next week. I need to check her teachers’ favorites list, but I’m leaning toward my personal favorite idea – simple handmade cards with a giftcard included.

Do you have a favorite gift to show your children’s teachers they are appreciated?
