Last week we had a tease of potential snow (most likely just flurries) forecasted for yesterday. We did get a few flurries and a *slight* accumulation, but it was gone almost as quickly as it arrived. Honestly, I’m fine if any real snow holds off until late mid February like it did last year. Perfect timing as my son was already tracked out from year round school so we didn’t have to worry about make up days. Just get outside and enjoy!
Supplies: paperwhite {snow} by Sara Gleason (snowflakes); Project Mouse No 2 elements by Britt-ish designs and Sahlin Studio (stitches); heART elements (date strip) and Authentic kit (paper) by Pink Reptile Designs.
While we didn’t get out in yesterday’s flurries, we still had plenty of “cold” fun over the weekend. On Saturday we took the kids to visit Trent’s grandmother. We stopped in downtown Graham on our way to let them burn energy at the Children’s Museum of Alamance County. There my son made a “snow globe” with crayons & paint. He left the finished project for his great grandmother along with a note saying, “I love you.” (My heart melted.)
Between the Museum and our visit, we stopped at the Graham Soda Shop for milkshakes. As you can see, he was so into it, he couldn’t even look up for a photo! I’m pretty sure he ended up with more than half of our milkshake. Although, on the plus side, it’s better for my diet, right?
No worries, my daughter got some too. She had a few bites of Trent’s strawberry milkshake.
Then yesterday, while the snow was falling, the kids had some indoor cold fun. We pulled out a giant ice mold my son & I had made over the course of a couple days prior. The kids worked to “excavate” the toys inside.
It held his attention longer, but my daughter definitely enjoyed the experience too from touching the block of ice (brrr!) to splashing in the water.
So, as you can see, while we didn’t get to enjoy any real snow this weekend, we had plenty of winter fun. How did you spend your weekend?
