Remember when summers stretched out long and seemed endless? Sure there were days as kids we were probably bored out of our minds, but for the most part, summer was open to adventure & possibilities. Our parents didn’t restrain us with a bucket list of “must do” items. We just did. And enjoyed.
Last year between working full time and adjusting to having a kindergartener starting school at the beginning of July (we have year round school), I embraced the idea of tossing the bucket list. Our summer was not normal by any means and we had enough going on without the stress of a list hanging over us. We still accomplished a lot then and the same holds true so far this summer.
Here’s a quick look at our June summer in the moment …

After all my “no bucket list” talk, I had to laugh when I found this school project in our son’s backpack on Monday:
Looks like we might have a tiny bucket list to knock off after all. 😉 At least I can already check items 4-6 off. 2 is planned. 3 … well, we’ll have to see how late he can stay up on Saturday night. I did buy some glowsticks for him to play with just in case it seems like he won’t make it quite to firework time. The tricky one? Number 1 – Go to waterpark. I will have to work on that one.
