All work and no play isn’t any fun. We had already planned to spend this weekend at the beach before the bathroom fiasco. Since we managed to make so much progress, we packed our bags and headed south to spend the weekend playing just has hard as we had worked.
Saturday we went to the new Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach, SC, to do just that.

Not sure if it’s the economy or lack of awareness of the park (several people we mentioned it to before the trip said, “Where?”) – but Hard Rock Park was nearly empty which was great for us. Lines for rides were short and good show seats were easy to grab five minutes before starting time.

We rode this coaster (Led Zeppelin – The Ride) twice. Both times I let out blood curling screams for the entire ride.

There are cameras in front of every seat so you can purchase a video after the ride. We probably should have – my terrified expressions were hilarious.
Other rides we enjoyed were:
- Nights in White Satin – The Trip – dark ride with neon lights and 3-d glasses to it’s namesake tune;
- Slippery When Wet – hanging coaster where guests below can shoot you with water guns;
- Shake Rattle ‘n’ Rollercoaster – smallest of the coasters, but still fun;
- Eagles – Life in the Fast Lane – the longest coaster in the park;
- and London Cab Ride – ok so I should say “Trent enjoyed” this one – it was a bit too much spinning for me…ugh.
We saw all 3 major shows (Roadies Stunt Show, Country on the Rocks & Malibu Beach Party) as well as a few street shows.
And crossed Abbey Road:

The park had ample souvenir opportunities. I opted for just one – a pin to add to my collection of Hard Rock Cafe pins. This is my first one featuring a roller coaster. And, of course, I took plenty of photos to scrapbook. My favorite souvenir regardless where we go.

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock; Avery baseball card holder; Basic Grey patterned paper; Making Memories Tiny Alpha letter stickers and star eyelets; Die Cuts with a View adhesive backed cardstock; QuicKutz Metro SkinniMini unicase alpha; Uniball Signo white pen; park map. Inspired by July 7th & 10th of dw2008.
We did take a true break and ended our trip with a day at the beach. It was exactly what we needed following a long week.

You guys certainly deserved a weekend off! This park sounds great…what a fun concept to have rides based on groups/songs. You are really brave to go on all of those roller coasters!!
Looks like you had a great mini-vacation! I’ve never heard of that park, either, but it looks like fun. Glad you were able to take a break from the bathroom & get away! Great pics, too…..I don’t think you’d even get me on that coaster!
Looks like a fun weekend! Glad you could relax a bit.
Wow it looks like you had so much fun! I love those roller coaster names! 🙂
What a cool park! I too would have loved it being so empty!
Sounds like a great trip – and I would have loved to see your expressions on those rides!
The park looks like fun, we didn’t go while we were there, ds is still a little young…one day. Glad you were able to enjoy the beach, we love it down there.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time away . . . great photos too!
What a fun weekend! Great pictures…I love a good roller coaster. Though my stomache isn’t as thrilled as I get older I’ve noticed 🙁
Sounds lovely and fun! You definitely should have got the video- you could be a YouTube one hit wonder! 🙂
Oh that park looks like a blast. I am a huge coaster fan. We all need a weekend away. Looks like you guys had fun.
looks like you had a good time!! Who knew there was so much fun things to do in SC?
Hey Sarah, We saw the ads for this place, but since it’s new and we werent sure, we didnt want to pay the price. I though the beach was overall less crowded this year, Maybe more people are doing “staycations” at home d/t the economy!
A well-deserved break after all your hard work! Looks like tons of fun – I love the Abbey Road photo! LOL!
DH and DD are flying up to Cedar Point, OH this weekend for a couple of days of rollercoaster riding 🙂
Sounds like a great time, had never heard of that amusement park before but then again, have never been to that area either. I really need to get out more.
That looks like so much fun!! Glad you guys got to have a break and enjoy some down time. What a fun place to go.
